"Moose Management and Research in Colorado"

The program for the 2015 Annual Meeting will include a presentation from Scott Wait, Senior Biologist with the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Scott will share his knowledge and involvement in reintroducing moose into the state of Colorado including recent tracking research the CPW is currently conducting across the state.

Scott will present a slide show that will review the various transplants of moose into Colorado and the dispersal that has occurred from those introductions, some basic moose biology, and a description of some statewide moose research that CO Parks and Wildlife is conducting to provide some better management direction.

About the Speaker:

Scott has been a wildlife manager and biologist for CO Parks and Wildlife for 28 years, 6 years as a District Manager in Saguache, 13 years as an Area Biologist in Durango, and 9 years as Regional Biologist for the Southwest Region. Scott been involved in studies of deer, elk, bighorn sheep, Gunnison sage grouse, and lynx, transplants of moose, bighorns, lynx, and sharptailed grouse, and habitat projects for most big game species and waterfowl. Mr. Wait has a BS in Wildlife Biology from U of Wyoming, and MS in Wildlife Habitat Management from Washington State University.
